Hi
Hi I am new to this forum, I have a problem with my 206. this quite a long post but I want to give a much information as possible
2005 Peugeot 206 1.4 manual
Vin number VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]
Problem The car turns over but will not start
code read with
Planet
Snap on Verus No communication with the engine ecu, I can get in to other things, but not the main ecu
I have been trying to get a wiring diagram to test the power is getting to the ecu, I cant find the correct wiring diagram as this car has a Johnson controls ecu.
all the diagrams are for Sagem or Morreli but not the one I have.
The one I have has 3 separate connectors so the pin layout is different it has j JCAE J34P on it johnson controls
turn the key on and all the dash lights up, then after about a minute all the lights go out and just the battery light is on, Is this normal
I have a good battery with 12.8 volts I seem to remember
I have changed the Crank sensor
I have no 5 Volt reference
all the fuses are good inside and out of the car
fuel pump is not starting but it is good
I am going towards an ecu problem I just want to prove it
If anyone has a good wiring diagram this would be a great help

Check the main earth leads? particularly the one that goes from the body (under the battery tray) to the gearbox. I`ve seen quite a few broken.

I believe that an immobiliser fault will cause the no comms error.
Here is a circuit diagram which may be correct. If not, give me your engine code and RP number and I will see what I can find.
Sorry that the resolution is bad, but my original is the same.

Re: 206 cranks but wont start
Not quite, a fault with the immobiliser should not cause the ECU not to power up however a non powered up ECU can give the impression of an immobiliser fault.xantia_v6 wrote:I believe that an immobiliser fault will cause the no comms error.
The dash lights going out after a few minutes is normal, the car is going into ECO mode. This will sort itself out once the car starts up.
ECU failures on these cars are fairly rare unless there is an external factor like water has got into it, connecting jump leads round the wrong way.
It just sounds to me like the ecu is missing a power supply or earth. The ECU on your setup is powered up by an integral relay built into the under bonnet fuse box (known as the BSM). These are quite prone to failure. I wouldnt recomend replacing without doing wiring checks when you get the diagram.
Re: 206 cranks but wont start
I would say the diagram above is for a much older version as it shows a 'double' relay, this would have been deleted from around 2002.

Put the key in the ignition, attempt to start the car, turn the key to the off position and leave it in the ignition barrel. Then open the drivers door. The car should beep 3 times to let you know the key is still in the car. If it doesn't, then the key is not recognised and the car is immobilised.
