307 SW 2.0 HDi 05 plate DPF fluid

Post by tmead »

Doe anyone know how to find out which fluid the car is supposed to use ? When I look in servicebox with the chassis number it shows four items, all Rhodia. There are two 1 litre quantities, a 3 litre and a 4.5 ! I can PM chassis number if you can help me.

I'm assuming the 1 litre items below are the fitting kit (tubes connectors and overflow bottle), but I don't understand why there are two 1 litre options and two 3 litre options there too !

Many thanks,

Tim

If you look under the fuel section you should be able to find it - I think my 307 (07. 1.6 HDi) is fitted with a bag. If you post up the VIN I'll have a look.

Sorry for the delay, I've struggled to work and back, but feel like a cartoon who's head is about to explode due to a sinus infection !

The VIN is VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Ah, tank not a bag, so that's no help! If you look at post 6 on this thread: https://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/ ... =3&t=50195 there is info from Citroen, I would imagine Pug is the same. Your RP is 10183, so should have originally been 176, now discontinued, so you can use Powerflex of Infinieum - record which in case you want to add more later! Or you can use the generic PATS fluid.

Thanks Richard - not enough hours in the day at present, so I haven't even thought about this ! Oill puddles underneath and 175K on the clock are leading me to wonder if this is worth doing anything with other than driving into the ground. I changed the crank seal with the clutch around 20K ago, so hope its not that. I'll take a look at the end of the engine as soon as I get a chance, as there's a suggestion that it may be the seal around the end of the camshaft that drives the hp pump. Its probably worth taking a look down the back of the engine and cleaning it all up to try to identify the source.

Loads to do already this weekend, so the puddles are simply going to have to wait !

looks like the oil leak is the crank seal, so will have to have the gearbox out asap. no evidence of clutch slip etc, so not planning to change that.

Crank seal now replaced again. The one I put in around a year ago had popped out against the back of the flywheel.
The new one was pressed in flush, and just as I sat back to contemplate the joy of the next task of putting the flywheel back I saw the damn thing start to pop out all by itself ! Couldnt believe it !

The seal housing doesn't have a back to push up against, so I've now smeared some oil resistant gasket around it and set it around a mm sub flush. Seems to be leak free at the moment.

I've never seen anything like it, or had a seal do that in any way before. Fingers crossed now.
