206 - diode under the ashtray

Hi. Today I was goofing around in my car. I removed the ashtray from its place and I noticed a little diode. I tried everything to light it up - turning on ignition, pushing the lighter button, etc. Anyone knows what this diode is for? I'm just curious.

Is it at the front (or rear) of the tray with a orange/red lens over it ?

It should come on with the lights on if its the illumination for the tray itself.

I haven't remembered the details of it. It was a diode with a brown and yellow piece of plastic under it. Also, it was covered with a black cap.

its the ash tray light bulb....
should illuminate with side and main beam on the stalk.
