Courtesy costs nothing

Post by moizeau »

I know the majority on this forum who start posts, reply to suggestions and finish the thread, whether fixed or not!
If you ask a question, please respond. Someone has taken time to try and help you. Also if you start a thread, finish it. There is nothing worse than reading through several pages to find the 'last chapter' missing

I quite agree and it's been a frustration of mine ever since I started visiting forums. This one is not unique and is actually a lot better than most in my experience...

Often, I'll deliberately ask the OP to let us all know the result...

I always read the last couple of entries of a large post before deciding on whether to read the full post although often it is. Thete's a lot of useful info peppered around randomly in posts so you really DO need to read everything. It's not that tedious and i certainly wouldnt complain about anything other than spam posting although the odd 'off topic' or 'post jack' entry does raise my BP a couple of degrees [emoji6]

You will be very lucky to find any spam but it is a forum characteristic that threads meander all over the place.

It's not the destination but the journey there that matters.

Whenever we take road that, err, isn't quite what I thought it was I am never lost - I am just discovering new places. I've driven along some beautiful roads that way.

I used to go for runs in the car, with the wife and kids, someone would say where does that road go? There was only one way to find out!

There are various ways I've seen of doing this, such as marking a post as 'best answer' (in some cases it then gets printed at the top as well) and or marking a topic as solved.

Both these methods actually work quite well (I've not seen them for this software but I've not looked) I can provide screenshots if curious.

However: The issue is they rely on the original posts aka the topic starter the one with the initial issue / question to actually mark it as such (or a moderator) , the problem being that some once they have their answer will not return to say "thanks!" or to do the 'mark as' thing...
