Expert Van Issue

Post by tl1000s »

Hi I have a Peugeot Expert van on an 02 plate and I am sure you have probably had this topic before but here goes, the head had gone and it had oil in the coolant then the injector pump started to play up. In my enthusiasm I decided to change the engine for one from a Partner of the same age a DW8B (WJY) the same as the one in the Expert. Job completed time to start the engine - nothing, it turns and does all that it should but no joy. I came on the forum looking for answers and it appears the Injector pump is somehow coded to the ECU. Right put the ECU in from the donor car. still nothing. There is no fuel at the injectors though I have loosened them to bleed them Has anyone any thought Please

The ECU will also be coded to the donor key, if you have that then a quick & dirty test would be to wrap the Expert key in a few layers of foil (leaving just the blade exposed) and then hold the donor key next to the ignition barrel when you try to start it.

There could be other issues I'm not aware of but try giving it the "signal" from the donor's key transponder first and see what happens, would be my first thought. If that works then you can just swap the transponder pellet between the keys to get going again. hopefully it's just that.

By the way, if you ride the bike that stands as your username may I compliment you on the size of your melons... :rofl2: I used to know a lad who rode an R years ago and he said that was a "lively" steed.

I have a van trade mate who got into real trouble with one of these vans, a lad working for him pressure washed 'everything' including the interior and all the electronics.

The van wouldn't start after that so they tried swapping ECUs etc. from a good van, spent days changing this and that, got a Citroen 'expert' in to sort the electronics, Lexia and all.

They never did get it going again and in the end broke it for spares.

Ive got a local guy coming to hopefully reprogram a key that will start it, will let you know what occurs, Thanks. I do ride the Tl1000s, I have 2 a standard one and a streetfightered one that is VERY frisky, does not like to be on both wheels most of the time. I also have quite a few other bikes, British and Japanese, and a little Peugeot vivacity scooter that is a bit trick

Hi again still not starting, does anyone know how, or where someone has already posted how to remove the security cover from the injector and fit another fuel solenoid with a separate feed from the ignition as this seem to be my only hope. Some pictures would be nice so I don't remove the wrong bit. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the advice everyone got the trusty dremel out and cut away some of the security shield, removed the solenoid and took out the plunger refitted everything bled the injectors and Bingo started up, just need to get a solenoid off ebay and wire it up to the ignition and we are good to go. I thought I might be defeated and have to scrap the van but in the end it was quite easy. Thanks everyone
