I have disconnected & re connected literally hundreds of batteries on multiplexed cars & don't switch on any loads when re connecting, after reconnecting I wait 1 minute before opening (or closing) any doors then lock & unlock with the key blade before starting & had zero problems doing it this way.
As far as disconnecting the battery when the BSI is awake, 9 times out of 10 it doesent cause any problems but sometimes doing this wipes the key memory or even the entire BSI memory. Never seen it cause damage that requires any components to need replacement, Its nothing that Lexia/Planet cant sort out, either re coding the keys or re configuring the BSI does the trick.
