You don't (read: can't) code your radio in on these with Lexia/Planet :)

They are a straightforward Clarion (typically) unit with a code. Not connected to diag at all.

I know where you are thinking though as 206's (later ones) you need to tell the BSi about a new radio.

You'll need to check the numbers / serial on the radio and obtain the code that way.

What year is the 106 ? Only post 2000 models actually have an engine ECU to control the pump timing**, earlier models are mechanical advance. later ones use electronic advance Bosch pump (engine code TUD5B) you'll know if you have one of these as there's a massive ECU sat on top of the battery.

**Pump control only it has no effect on the transponder system at all. Mine would not lock anyway.
Andy.

100% not VIN coded, only multiplexed cars need the radio VIN coded & the 106 was never multiplexed.

So how can I decode it? I'VE tried a decoder and it said it's vin coded!

Agree. We need to see what you have really.
The 'factory' one at that age is typically something like this:

Could be radio / cd or radio / tape obviously.

The 'surround' (complete with curious pen holder space) comes off its not part of the radio itself. Not shown in that pic.

I used to give the serial number and model details (found on the back of the radio) and the car vin number to my local Peugeot Dealer and they would come up with a code, for a fee of course,£20 - £25 ?
Plenty of places online will do the same.

That's a 206 or Citroen one without display. It will not work in a 106 (well not very well) as there's no display panel. :)
The one you have *is* VIN coded yes but its not going to work in a 106.

I do have one in my loft if anyone can use it, given to me by someone I trust whom I'm confident wouldn't've bothered if it wasn't in GWO. Don't know the code though

That type (without a display) does not have a 'code to enter' as such from what I recall. The 'coding' when you fit these (to a multiplexed car with a separate display only) is done via the diag to just tell the BSi you have a 'new' radio. It does actually work without this coding but it bleeps (loudly) constantly via the speakers, as an 'anti theft' thing.

Having said that, you can hear the radio / cd / tape etc well enough to at least confirm its working correctly or not, but its not 'useable' as such until its coded. This is a bit like the 'test mode' you can do on some Clarion (possibly others) where you can make it work without the code for about 10 minutes, it does not save any station presets (on purpose) if you do this and it can also bleep about once every 30-60 seconds too but again its "alive enough" to determine if its a working unit or not.
