Pug 207 rear brake pipe
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone could help me, my rear driver side brake hose split the other day and I'm struggling to find the part I need to get a repair.
You have the pipe coming out of the calliper then a metal piece that looks like it's crimped? Then a rubber pipe (this is the piece that's split) then another metal crimped piece then more pipe.
My question is can I replace just the piece that's split ( the bit between the two metal crimped pieces ) or do I need the full thing?
Cheers

Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
You'd need the full thing as such, as you'd struggle otherwise to find a hydraulic specialist to repair it (given its a brake part) and the cost of a repair would probably be more than a new pipe. I know what you mean its a metal / flexi 'assembly' as such.
How old is the car and what engine fitted ? Rear disc or drum brakes ? The main dealer will have this pipe obviously and good motor factors are likely to stock it too. With the car details I can get the correct data for you.
This is a pic from a 5 door 207 1.4HDi , with ABS , without ESP with rear drums as an example. As you can see its item 17 (assuming RHD car?) or item 2 you'll need. No part numbers simply as these may change if this vehicle spec is not correct, the pic is simply so you can see what I mean about a 'single piece' as such.

Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
Hiya mate thanks for the reply, it's a 207 gt HDi 1.6 2007 ref I'm struggling to find anywhere that stocks the part apart from Peugeot who im assuming will have my pants down.
When I search online for 'Peugeot 207 rear brake pipe' all that comes up is a single hose which I'm assuming is the wrong part then?

Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
Is it (2) or (17) that you need then ?
The part numbers for these for rear discs are as follows (I'd be tempted to call the dealer to just see to be honest, they are not always expensive on brake parts, honest) its worth a quick phone call...
(2) is 4806G2
(17) is 48869 (until build 12410)
(17) is 488GR (since build 12411 to 12746)
(17) is ? (no part number since build 12747)

Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
hi mate its part 17 is there a reason its so hard to find? i cant be the only person this has ever happened to feels like it at the minute though
Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
its the piece under that metal crimp mate, so youve got the pipe that comes out of the calliper that bends up and over then the metal crim, the next piece of pipe (the broken piece) another metal crimp then more pipe

Try looking at http://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/car-bra ... hoses.html#, seems to have the part you want.
Note that I think there are some digits missing from the part numbers in spider's post above.

Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
Matching the picture and description, I think it is: http://www.onlinecarparts.co.uk/nk-7495220.html which claims to be a replacement for Peugeot 488870. I can't check the Peugeot PN for you, but maybe someone else can.
Re: Pug 207 rear brake pipe
cheers lads is there any chance one of you could confirm which part as you've both said different ones

Mark
Post up the last 8 digits of the VIN and I can check the correct part no. When I looked the other day one example was only about £20 from Peugeot.

Here you go:
Reference Description Quantity Price - VAT Price + VAT Total + VAT Selection
0000488870 BRAKE HOSE 17.06 GBP 20.47 GBP 20.47 GBP
Can't see anything on e-bay, so think I would just go for the dealer.
