Dare I ask which engine is better?! It's a 1.6. That cover over top of engine is bolted to the scuttle panel, doesn't look like it's ever been removed, I presume the air filter is under there then?

Ah... in car installations the 16V has a plastic cover, the 8V a fabric cover - there's also a different turbo outlet pipe, but you can't see that either! I think it's a 16V - if you post the VIN I can check. 8V is better - do a bit of research on turbo failure on the 16V engine.....

I think probably the air filter is under the scoop - you can see the air feed going to it (square) in the RHS of the pic and the return to the turbo coming back underneath. You can see the oil filter cap just under the top hose between the two air pipes.

I'll have a look later and see if I can find a procedure for the Relay equivalent for the air filter change. It's only supposed to be done every 37k, so it's possible it's not been done on yours.

That's a 16V I'm pretty sure - no DPF though by the look of it, which seems to help with turbo life.

Yep, remove the 2 obvious nuts in the centre, then slacken 1 at each side pointing downwards under the scuttle and remove the inlet scoop. All will be revealed!

Here for your oil https://www.nielsencdg.co.uk/acatalog/T ... l#SID=1065

Change every 6k should give you trouble free miles - check injector nuts for being loose

No that is the type that is known to be loose from new the manufacturer's torque setting for those barrel nuts is too low. You will need a 7mm allen key the ball type and tweak them all

Thank you,not good news then! I take it there is a 7mm nut either side, I carnt tell with the cover on! I presume it is the older 16v engine then too, the one that doesn't drain all the old oil out- double oil change coming up then!!. Also I've found that the oil capacity is 4.0L with the dpf or 4.8L without, can anyone tell by my pictures if I've got one or not, or where I'd find the dpf? Thanks again for all your help so far.

We do need that VIN number to be able to nail exactly what is fitted to the vehicle. Peugeot/Citroen build details are available for each individual vehicle, and the ability to read appropriate service and electrical diagrams.
