Hi everyone!
I'm from Portugal and seeking from some help about an engine swap.
I have a 306 1.4 petrol (KFX) with the engine block fissured. I have a spare KFZ engine from a 106 XSi 1.4 with catalyst (1993). The KFX is aluminium with liners and the KFX is cast iron.
I have power steering and air conditioning on the 306.
Is it easy to swap engines? Do I need some DIY to fit the power steering or it is plug n' play?
Thank you!

Re: Peugeot 306 1.4i (my 1997) engine compatibility
The 'cast iron' 1.4 is not too common. Usually most 1.4's 8v are the alloy liner block. All (or nearly all) 1.6's are iron blocks. There was no iron block 1.1 as far as I know (not what you asked I know)
It would fit and work but you would need to retain your inlet and exhaust manifolds from the KFX unit as well as all the ancillaries too. I'd not try a 'mix and match' with these. This would include things like thermostat housing and sensors etc too.
I don't think you'd have any water hose issues.
If you fit all the brackets from your old unit to the new one, you should be OK with the A/C and PAS swap as such. Bear in mind the 106 PAS is electric pump not belt driven (except some LHD models) but I do not have enough information on the specifics on this.
If you already had PAS then the column would be OK, although off topic to 'add' PAS to a 205 you need the lower column (or all of it) from a PAS car as its a different length to the non-PAS one (I know I tried!)

Hi #spider, forgive me the late answer but I had some issues with my login.
Now the problem is solved, I found an KFX identical to mine.
Thank you for your help!
