Brake Fluid Issues

Post by Pug_XUD_KeenAmateur »

A point in the right direction much appreciated.

Shocked to find this debris settled in the bottom of my brake fluid pot from flushing it last week (it did come out filthy from one of the rears - drums).

Also wasn't able to eradicate all of the air on two of the wheels, small bubbles coming no matter how much I had my assistant pump the pedal so me thinks air's getting into the system somewhere. Quarter pedal travel before anything happens therefore unsurprising.

I gotta have the Drums off tomorrow coz the handbrake's way out of adjustment, one side in partic, but I'm not expecting to find any issue with the Masters. There's no loss of brake fluid.

Where should I look for the cause?

PS: Car is a Mk2 Pug 106D, Bendix Brakes

Many thanks in advance for your useful suggestions

Off-topic, but Aladdin's shed contains my favorite ever tool for this variety of job for your future endeavors:

Just a one way non return valve and some hose. Saves all the swearing and deletes the assistant, and removes all the black magic from bleeding clutches and brakes! (Yes it's supposedly for motorbikes, used one on at least 10 separate clutch / brake jobs on cars now & the valve still works great)
