106 rear suspension

106 rear suspension
<font face="Times New Roman"></font id="Times New Roman"><font size="4"></font id="size4"><font color="red"></font id="red">i have a 1998 106 gti. i want to lower the rear suspension (fronts are easy i know) i have heard there can be problems with seized in torsion bars. would it be easier to take the complete rear subframe off, adjust the torsion bars and then refit it. any help would be appreciated

I had my 306 lowered and its not a complex job, one side took less that a half hour, but the other side was seized and that made the job take about 3 hours. If you got the know how, and you got the tools then its DIY'able. Make sure you mark the position that they were in with a scriber though (if that makes any sense to you).
