Peugot 407 2.2 vs 2.0

Hi

I am about to buy a Peugot 407. I drove an automatic 2.0 liter petrol engine and I got the impression that the car is too heavy for the 2.0 engine. I Also drove a 2.2 petrol automatic and the car seems to be much more responsive. Is the 2.2 engine reliable ? I know that the 2.0 is very reliable. Beside the fact the 2.2 engine is more powerful its automatic gearbox is HP20 ( from ZF ) VS the AL4 that is fitted to the 2.0 version. At current I have a Citroen C4 and a Xantia both automatic with AL4, in both gear changes is sometimes rough and noticeable. Is the HP20 a better gearbox than the AL4, is it more reliable ? Does it change gears smoothly ?
