307 stuck in Economy Mode

Post by chemexhants »

Have a friend with a 307SW 2.0HDi on an 02 plate. The car worked fine but the key fob remote control buttons wouldn't work so she changed the battery. Now the car is stuck in Economy Mode and won't start.

I have reprogrammed the key fob and reset the BSI. The engine cranks fine but won't fire. The is plenty of fuel.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

The car is not stuck in economy mode, it will stay there until you get 14 volts out of the alternator, ie get it running.
I would suggest that whilst changing the key battery, you lost the immobiliser chip out of the key, or the car has lost its BSI programming.
If you have Peugeot Plant, check to see if the ecu is locked when the ignition is on. This will tell you of the immobiliser is your issue.

Thank you for your reply.

The chip is still in the key fob and I am able to read the BSI, and you are correct in saying that the immobilisor is locked. Does this now require a visit to a main dealer?

You could code the key in with Peugeot planet if you have it

As is the way, bought with only one key and no key card. Main Dealer supplying a key code for £15, which is a much better price than expected.

Thank you again for your comments.

I'll take the tenner!! Everytime we attempted to reprogramme the bsi it failed to store the information. A replacement was sourced and all is working now.

Thanks to everyone for their replies.
