Progress

Post by doctle »

I went to do a bit more cleaning today, I just learned how to move the slam panel to remove the cat heat shield. The shield is in poor condition so I took it off then took off the cat. There was a loose ball of ceramic stuff inside so I broke it up and removed it. Refitted the cat and the car drives very well. I think the oil is coming from the oil cooler or the filter housing. I ordered an EGR blanking plate in case the valve was sticking so thats next when it arrives. Anyway thanks to all you guys for your input. I need new heat shields, are they expensive new?

Assuming its part 1723 R0, and depending on which RPO number its a reasonable £24.19.

Servicebox will give the exact parts if your VIN is put in.

Thank you, I registered with service box then rang my Peugeot dealer with the part numbers. €60.00 bolts and clips extra. Dang

Price them with a Citroën dealer. They are often substantially cheaper. There is also Ford and Mazda. Can you not repair and refit the shields using a little light aluminium? Anyway I would be inclined to sort the oil leaks before even thinking about the heat shields.

Also put the part numbers into Ebay. I've bought genuine parts from Peugeot dealers in various European countries via Ebay for cheaper than their UK counterparts.
