Hi everybody
just eventually removed my turbo from my 806 2.0 hdi
on removing the high pressure oil line from the block the filter in the banjo bolt has broken up leaving only a small part of the fine mesh
don't know where the rest went!! maybe this is what caused the turbo to fail !!
is this filter essential ?
was thinking of leaving it out as I cannot seem to find one
could anyone advise if this is a bad idea ?
many thanks
malc

Re: PUG 806 TURBO PROBLEMS
I recall ages and ages ago I wanted a filter for the 205TD and we could not find it listed. We even ordered a new oil feed pipe but it did not come with a filter.
After more thought, I left it out (I think the smaller HDi's have it removed now due to excess service spacing and sludge etc)
Point here is I never had *any* issues without it for the seven years I ran it after its removal... Bear in mind I did do religious oil changes (figuring oil is cheap and engines are not) every 5K (book stated 6K)

Re: PUG 806 TURBO PROBLEMS
I would agree. I have been running Citroen/Peugeot turbo diesels for 25 years or more and never had one fail, as far as I know none of them had turbo oil feed filters. I used to change my XUD oil at 5000 miles, the Hdi I do at 8000 miles as its a cleaner burning engine but I think some of the recommended mileages are ridiculous and just asking for trouble.
