407 Key fob 2005 + turning back miles.

Hello all, so my key fob is looking quite tatty, it sticks when folding out, the rubber buttons are creased as well. I was wondering if there are any specialty companies in the UK who can supply a fresh key fob housing and key. is there some way to cut the blade, like a code or such? the dealership here is at a loss for a key, claiming they'll have to order one....at about 200pounds.

My second query is, is there anyway for some one to turn back the miles in a 2005 407? I've been looking on Peugeot planet lexia 3 to see if there is such an option, havent found any so far. I dont want to do it, im just curious, because i bought my car used with only 8000 miles on it, 6 years after the original owner purchased it.

You could maybe buy a similar style plip on ebay and swop the innards over and switch the keys. To get a new plip is an expensive exercise which you'll need to do through a dealer. Regarding your 2nd question. Yes - changing the mileage can be done with the correct programming equipment, however it's use is frowned upon since it's usually done to defraud a potential buyer.

MOT's record the mileage, if you suspect it's been tampered with. hey guys, thanks for the replies. Yes im from trinidad, and going to England for an MOT is pretty much impossible, they may not even have the record. I can check with my local dealer. I was got to thinking that how come in 6 years the previous owner, even though old but had kids, only did 8000 miles on the car. and the car itself showed signs of ill-treatment. I had to replace a rear light, a side indicator light, the multi function display screen and clean out the carpets and renew the interior, even change the shift lever which fell apart. So i was thinking maybe someone pulled a fast one on me. In my country, every import vehicle being sold as USED from Japan and England, Singapore too are tampered with to roll back the miles. the government doesnt care nor does the local transport ministry, our MOT.



all in all though, the car is back up and running, all lights off, no major faults except an intermittent ignition fault which i dont know what it is about since the car starts very quick and smooth. I detailed it myself!

but what is this software that can turn back miles? i assume high end car thieves use it. When i first plugged in my lexia 3 for the first time, it showed up a message saying mileage might be incorrect. after that, i never saw it again. I dont know if its was the mileage i had typed in or the roll back miles.

i bought a key fob off ebay last year, but the blade needed cutting and the interior compartment was too small. it was for the 2007+ models.

Ok...well this answers my question. the audacity of companies to make this product!! Mileage correction tool. works like an OBD scanner except its for miles
