Peugeot 205 coil spring restraining cables

Post by Cornishcitroen »

In my haynes manual there is a picture of some restraining cables that keep the front coil springs compressed once the wheel's been jacked up. I reckon I would find these very useful and that they would fit my Citroen c15D van as well.

Anyone ever used them or know how to get some?

Donkey's years ago my family ran two Pug 205s and I remember reading about these things. I put new suspension legs on one of the 205s but I just used the normal spring clamps

The 205 Haynes manual does mention them as Peugeot tools that fit 5mm holes in the suspension legs however, it goes on to say that if they are not available, to use spring clamps.

It looks to me as if you fit these cables with the weight of the car upon them and then when the car is jacked up the cables keep the springs from extending to allow you to do stuff/remove them from the struts.

I have coil spring compressors (3 different sets) but none of them fit the springs very well. As I have a C15D and a Peugeot 205 Turbo I thought some of these could prove useful.

These are really useful for the 206 as the springs extend further than the bottom arm can move!

Didn't realise it was an issue even earlier!
