Its been a while since i was last here !
For fun i bought a 2001 206 1.1 with approx 120k miles, nice car apart from the clutch doesnt work !!
If you press the clutch there is no resistance, I have looked under the bonnet and see there is an inch or so of slack in the the cable so i am thinking that i will bodge a spacer onto the cable to remove the slack and see if the clutch will work, My suspects are the clutch adjuster in the cable has failed but my question is , is it common for the cable adjusters to fail or could it be the clutch has had it and taken the clutch cable adjuster out ?????
I hope that makes sense.
In my head i am budgeting for clutch but hoping not needed !!

Re: 206 Clutch problems
Check the other end of the cable where its connected to the clutch and see if the lever is moving when you press the clutch, if yes, its the clutch or probably the thrust bearing, if no it will be the cable.

Re: 206 Clutch problems
Grab the end of the cable from the release arm (or the arm itself) can you move it forward (ie toward the front of the car) and hear the ratchet on the auto-adjuster ?
This is mid-way on the cable itself.

Re: 206 Clutch problems
Can anyone help I just got a 206cc 2002 very happy
But the clutch pedal goes right to the end of its movement before it bites.
Drives well and gear changes are fine .
Can I adjust the travel of the pedal so the bite happens earlier
Just a beginner so excuse my ignorance

Re: 206 Clutch problems
Not sure but I think the larger engines used a hydraulic clutch, if it's hydraulic then there's no adjustment and it's likely the clutch is just about done even if it's not slipping yet. (our 206 has hydraulic clutch & the bite was near the top, when I changed the clutch it wasn't slipping at all but the rivets had just started to mark the pressure plate so it was properly worn out!)
Hopefully someone can confirm one way or the other regards cable/hydraulic but it may help if you tell us which engine it is just in case there's a difference between them.
Welcome to the forums by the way (why do I virtually always forget this when replying to a new member's post? )
