could any one help with a friends 1.6 petrol 307
he recently brought the car with the fault it appears like a worn wheel bearing on the passenger side of the car
on start off it appears like a vibration then a humming noise up to about 50 mph above this it seems to disappear also when you turn the steering to the right it will disappear steering stright ahead or turning left has little affect on the noise
I have changed bolth side wheel bearings and bolth drive shafts this has had no effect
all bushes and drop links are in good condition with no play
could it be the diff? it is driving us nuts!!
many thanks

Re: pug 307
It may well be an MA box which is prone to eating the diff bearings, although it doesn't usually give these symptoms. I had trouble on a Xantia where a little bit of play in the track rod end combined with a slighty out of balance tyre combined to give just the symptoms you have got. Took me ages to figure it out, as every time I jacked it up the angle change masked the play in the TRE Try rocking the wheel 3 - 9 o'clock with it on the ground to see if you can feel any play.
