Peugeot Gearbox's

Post by madinfo »

Hi, currently i am changing my car engine to a XUD one (can be searched in this forum).
And i am planning to change my gearbox, to a new gearbox (longer than the original dw8 one).

my question is can somebody explain me this:

FINAL DRIVE RATIO REAR AXLE HYPOID GEARSET
SPEEDOMETER DRIVE TACHO TORQUE

and how this works ?

and the best HDI box to XUD9te ?

Can you not use the XUD9T box ?

Then again, these were cable (and the annoying push/pull assembly!) rather than hydraulic.

To confirm, is your 206 LHD or RHD ? I'm only asking as LHD 206 DW8's usually had a cable clutch, and all RHD models had a hydraulic clutch setup.

The minor change in final drive is because the tyre size is different I expect. See its 175/65 R14 vs 195/55 R15

The original box from the xud9 is form a 406 and is different mounts and everything.. will be a lot of trouble to put it in the 206( different transmissions etc)

The original one from the 206 DW8 that i have its too short... it will have a crazy acceleration but low top speed.

the one that i can get for free is this one:

FINAL DRIVE RATIO REAR AXLE HYPOID GEARSET CP 19 X 70
SPEEDOMETER DRIVE TACHO TORQUE CT 22 X 19

from a 2.0Hdi saloon.

The gear box is exactly the same from the dw8 push clutch cable operated, and the difference is only the gear ratios (chekced on servicebox).

all the 206 2.0hdi in Portugal are clutch cable operated.

I thought Xac from this forum bolted an HDi gearbox to an XUD because the ratios were *longer*?..

I am a bit mystified by this thread as there is reference to a Final Drive Rear Axle ratio in a 206? The 206 is front wheel drive surely? Also going from a XUD9TE to XUD, does that mean you are dropping the turbo?

By 'final drive' it means the differential ratio. :)
