1.6 hdi oil leak between cylinder head and cam carrier

Post by scirocc0 »

hi, after removing and re fitting the cam carrier on to the cylinder head , the car has been leaking oil from the back of the cam carrier mainly near the fuel filter in the right hand corner , also i think this is causing the car to idle rough and cut out as it will be letting oil and air through the gap into the intake holes

ive removed it and refitted it again carefully and its made no difference , is there some kind of gasket or seal that was supposed to be in certain places to prevent this? as i cant find anything for sale related to it.

how do i upload photos ? im new to forums

thanks

here is a photo of the lay out of the engine, im thinking of just using instant gasket to go around the whole thing before putting it back on

That's how it's supposed to be fitted. Use a small bead of RTV silicone all the way around - you need to go across some of the inner webs as well, and around the injector holes AFAIK. There's a picture of it in the 307 Haynes manual. I doubt that this is causing the rough idle though...
