Peugeot 206 Speedo Issues

Hello to all.

We have swapped a 1.4hdi engine from a 2003 Peugeot 206 back into a 2002 Peugeot 206.

We have also carried across the engine wiring loom because the 2002 wiring is questionable.

The 2002 car had a sensor on the gearbox for the speedo, the 2003 engine does not have this,

How did the 2003 car feed its info to the speedo ?

Should we remove the blanking plate on the box and fit a sensor and use the older engine wiring loom ?

Any suggestions please ?
