overheating 206

Post by mcflurreh »

Hi guys and thanks for the website :)

I have a problem with overheating and I hope for some help :)

My 206 is is a w reg (2000)
Just out of the blue it started. It's been in the garage to have a couple things replaces including radiator and thermostat! But still it's overheating.

It's perfect when idle but as soon as I got 50mph it moved up above 90. Once I hit 70 mph it's nearly touching the red but as soon as I slow down the temperature drops also. I'm stumped tbh.

I've spoke to many mechanics and most have provided different answers :(

The car has also had a 'sniff test' done. But that came back clear.

Please, please any help welcome. And please any questions then just ask

hi and welcome

first thing i would do is make sure the cooling system is thoroughly bled of any trapped air,

secondly if the year/model has a header tank i would make sure the spout on the tank that the rad bypass hose goes to is clear,

as it only has a very small through way inside the spout it can fur up, this stops you being able to bleed the system properly

were are you located

By sniff test, do you mean coolant in the exhaust?

I'm guessing this is a 1.4 petrol.
