Post by citronut »

and what sort of job is it, ( hope it comes out through the cab #-o ) as you cant even see it under the hood

Done one on a 207, & Iam sure they are the same floor pan. No it doesn't , you have to pull the engine forward in that . Really not that hard, just a half turn & it comes out :)

thanks lighty

although there looks to be plenty of space between the engine and bulkhead, but if it comes out into the engine bay it looks like the servo and air con pipes are in the way?????

I think you have to move the A/C pipes, there is a bracket on the inner wing which when released allows you to move the pipes a bit. It's a year or two since I did it.

well fitted a new OE master cylinder today, now i cant get the clutch to disengage,

pressure bled to start with which got fluid through the system,

still no clutch although the fork appears to be moving to the end of its travel,

so bled it manually still no joy,

i did manage to drive it from the owners house this morning just about, very difficult to engage gears then

The BOL for the C5 HDi gives quite a long winded bleeding procedure for the clutch on that - like pump it 7 strokes, close the bleeder, wait, open bleeder and pump another 7 strokes, close the bleeder, then pump it 40 strokes at 1second / stroke, then see if it disengages 35mm above the floor; if not, then repeat the above! But, if you have movement at the fork end, but still no clutch operation, it sounds like box out time  What were the original symptoms?

thanks Richard

original symptoms very difficult if at all to engage gears, since fitting the new master cylinder it is more difficult to engage,

i messured the slave cylinder throw against my friends 307 HDI, the 307 has 55mm throw were the Partner has 44mm,

both cars have the same slave cylinder when looking up with VIN No.'s

At least you found something  Has it already had a replacement clutch, or have they worked loose over time?

I've never known clutch bolts work loose on their own (usually the opposite) so I reckon someone's had the clutch off for some reason. (it wasn't me!) 1.6HDi is a horrible box to take out, unless of course someone has done it before and not replaced the bolt behind the exhaust bracket (that's definitely me!)

and the middle starter motor bolt, you know the one between the solenoid and the block, and no you cant just feed a very long extension through from under the O/S wheel arch, because a couple of inches away from the tail end of the starter theres a bracket blocking the way though      #-o
8-[ :? :o :o

oh and one of the heat shield torx bolts down the front of the cat, just opposite the back of the alternator
