Lower ball joint 407

Post by Big G »

Hi

Had the MOT passed OK but with advisory on the lower ball joints so as it's summer I'm looking to change both of them myself, is it a fairly straight forward job or is there something that will throw me a problem.

Its marked with 3 spanners in the Haynes manual. I know because mine had the same advisory in the test on Saturday!

Go for the Lemforder or other good quality ones, I've heard bad things about the cheaper ones not lasting more than a year.

Personally I think the Vetec ones from gsf are as good as any, and they come with new Torx bolts (the expensive ones don't).
Personally I wouldn't attempt these at home, they can be very tricky.

Cheers Lighty

Looked in the haynes book and maybe just buy the part and get the local mobile mech to exchange.

Its very important to buy the best O/E joints.I`ve just got two joints from GSF for £112.20 inc VAT. They came in genuine SKF boxes, SKF are one of the best bearing manufacturers there is so can not crumble at that.
Peugeot Dealers joints are about £89 each!!
