The 1.6 is a particularly troublesome engine, but usually because of owner neglect.
The main issues are:
DPF and the cooling fan wiring loom
Radio display fault when warm
Dual climate zone heater flap fail
Turbo issues
There is a very comprehensive subscription-only 407 owners club on-line.
