Peugeot Expert Black Smoke

Post by ronniecabers »

Hi All,

Got an 2.0 Hdi 2001/Y expert that snapped a rocker due to being constantly overheated by previous owner.

Changed the engine for one from a peugeot ' specialist ' , but now we have come to get the vehicle mot'd , it won't get through the smoke test as it is blowing black smoke , and clogging up the Mot testers machine! Garage have put injector cleaner through it and it was a little better, but not much, and now the eml is on. They have read the codes have informed us that it is the HP pump and injectors at fault. We are now unsure what direction to take...........Please Help!

Some HIstory to the van whilst we've had it....

Replaced Engine ( engine codes appear different though , original was RHX, new engine RHY ' specialist said this wold be fine ' )
Original HP pump and injectors used as Specialist said they are not coded so won't cause a problem ( except that seems to be eml light reason? )
Original Turbo and other ancilliries ( incl ECU )
New Camblet , tensioners, water pump, air filter, fuel filter

Did have isssue getting the van to initially run, which turned out to be the low pressure pump relay ( master relay ? ( inside passenger side front wing )) had bad connections, cleaned corrosion off and van started

PLease help , don't want to scrap it , as van is overall in good condition, with just a tyre and 1 x rear suspension.....any suggestions

Can you see it smoking while driving, if so under what circumstances, is the performance normal? Black smoke is caused by insufficient air intake, could be a restriction in the turbo/air intake piping or intercooler (if it has one) or the air filter . Could be that its over fueling but it would go like the clappers if it was the case. If the performance is down could be a turbo problem
