Do I have to change Sump to remove AC Pump? XUD

Post by Pug_XUD_KeenAmateur »

I've removed part of my air-con system and I'd like to remove the pump also, which will allow me to remove a particular idler that I've changed 3 times, each time the replacement has also been noisy.

My lump has the air con alloy sump with the integral bracketry on the side for the AC pump fixings, its a slightly different shape to the steel non-AC sump.

Can I lose the AC pump and fit the shorter non-serpentine belt; having of course changed the cast iron alternator & PAS bracket.....

....or will I find that there's no way of fitting the bottom 'lollipop' idler / adjuster without changing the sump?

...will I also find that the PAS pipework which currently runs to the PAS pump located at the top, 'Serpentine' arrangement of course; won't go to the pump in its new location near the bottom of the engine?
