You might (might) get the correct code with a standard OBD2 reader although Planet would be the better choice. A Diag2000 should work (even though they are not meant for newer cars) as the 106 is not plexed.

A standard OBD reader may not be able to clear it.

Assuming RHD car, underneath glovebox on passenger side near the door opening. Easier to initially find from passenger side ie: may have to look up in footwell to see it.

Tip: The connector can be a bit fragile in its holder, so hold the car "socket" with one hand from its "back" ie wires side while you plug the "diag" cable in. Worst that would happen in most cases is the socket would come loose though (mine did) so I just used to hold it in place as indicated. I think the clips are not strong enough for it as its on a thin piece of plastic that's all, rather than anything serious.

I have read the codes today, Only one fault P300, Intermittent misfire, i have reset it . I think maybe caused by lack of servicing as the plugs are completely shot as was most servicing items ! I only just got the poor neglected 106 !!!

This is the concern with 20K service intervals with the petrol models, the plugs only get changed every second one ie 40K or every four years, assuming the owner has it serviced*

*we used to see a lot that were overdue as owners did not understand the time concept, perhaps in part due to sales ( ? ) "But I've only done 10,000 miles in 3 years a service is not due yet!" kind of thing...

It was difficult to get them to understand (no idea why) its time or miles whichever first, although personally 20K is pushing it anyway I'd do mine if i had a petrol one at 10K, my diesel 106 that was every 10K but I dropped that to 6K.

mind the plugs aren't submerged in oil and the ceramic section is clean, as this can knock out the coil pack,

i do have a DIAG 2000 for sale at the moment and it dose work on the 106 perdectly well
