Interesting project, what engine does it have? I think the last time I worked on one of those was 20 years ago??.The rear suspension may be a problem? Its unique to 305 vans & estates. The taper roller bearings in the radius arms destroy themselves, you will need special tools to get it all apart. The rest of it is what you may call normal type of design, quite easily taken apart. The man for spares is Dean Hunter http://www.peugeotparts.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I bet he will have everything you want.
If you want to meet up with some 305 owners and may be get some ideas, go to the annual Peugeot Owners Club Rally at Rockingham Castle nr Corby on Sunday 8th September.

will the 405 etc estate rear fit or just 305?
what is the difference? can it be altered?

Its completely different to 405`s(they are torsion bar) and every other Peugeot model including the 305 Saloon!! Difficult to explain,it has shocks&coil springs that lay flat length wise with the radius arms acting like levers with a ball joint on the end of the shocks. Peugeot designed it especially for the 305 van/estate so nothing protrudes into the loading area.Your best way to figure it all out is to jack it up and get under.

You might find it's close to a BX in the rear setup, at least in terms of bearings.

Good old Dean,he has been involved with Peugeot`s longer than me and has helped me out many times.
I think the bearing kit IS the same as a BX? The main task is to find a coil spring compressor with clamp fingers small enough to fit into the housing? have a look and you will see what I mean? Once you have compressed the spring, disconnected the shock ball joint taper from the radius arm, removing the radius arm is very easy. What you need is a workshop manual,if you can find one.
Mind you have a good look at the rear end?? if it looks OK,no movement etc, leave it alone. As with all old cars "Don't fix what aint broke".
