Can you hear the A/C clutch kick in ? , its a loud click even should be able to hear it above the engine noise (at idle) if you have a window open and are stationary.

There is gas in the AC yes ? , it won't work if the gas pressure is too low.

My Son said he charged the gas 2 years ago and that the A/C worked until the problem with the heater fan, if I can explain a bit more today he put a new module in and the fan seemed OK, just to be sure, he tried another module from another 406 and it was the same, so there is something wrong with the A/C

I think a diag on a Lexia (Planet in this case) would help, I think it may say if there's insufficient gas pressure I'm not sure. That would be my first idea to check, its not really safe to manually test for gas with a screwdriver etc (I have seen it done) plus if it was low it would be too low afterwards.

My initial thought though is if you cannot hear the compressor clutch going "clunk" then its likely the gas level is low as it has a pressure sensor fitted which shuts it off if its too low (or too high ie failed radiator fan)

There is no Clunk as you switch on the A/C. I have
allana Lexia only used it on Xantia not sure if it can be used on the Peugeot

Its worth trying, Diagbox has Planet / Lexia.

It won't do it any harm to try at least as far as I know...
