205 steering wheels

Could I ask if anyone on this forum knows if the later three-spoke 205 GTI steering wheel is identical (boss and rim diameter etc.) to the similar looking 405 one?

I've found a good condition 205 one which I'd like to get for it. Have already learnt that 305 wheels do not fit the 405!

I *think* they are the same wheel (I'll check) and post back in a bit.

Was fitted to later MardiGras 205's and earlier D-Turbo 205's as well as L plate onwards 405's.

4109C8 FZL Hurricane Grey Leather Steering Wheel 3 Branches
4109E6 FCY Impala Beige Leather Steering Wheel 3 Branches

There's one not listed as some had a plastic 205 style wheel I'm sure.

4109A4 FXX Black (this is the 3 spoke DT wheel)
There's loads of variations.

Other ones they were 4109A3 up to 93 then 4109C9 afterwards.

All these are newer shape 205's (post 1991)


A 405 wheel should fit I'd be very surprised if it did not but I cannot be 100% sure. A visit to a scrapyard and try a swap with models from the correct years may be in order.

I'm actually after the reverse; fitting a 205 GTI wheel to a 405 but your post seems to support the fact it's viable - Thanks Spider!
