306 engine number - where is it?

Post by v0n »

For about two months now I'm trying to find out the engine number of my recently replaced XUD9 engine (306 XLD). So far the only thing I can see is a small metal plate with "10CU4G4015329" on the front of the engine block but can't find anything more permanent, or anything looking like the proper number (3 letters, 8 numbers iirc).
The garage where the engine was replaced never wrote down the details (yeah I know... that was extended warranty job). I also tried contacting Peugeot, they sent me to local dealership, which wouldn't help unless I paid some rediculous fee for inspection.
Can someone please, please tell me where exactly is the engine number on XUD9 motors.

According to my 306 Haynes, the engine number is "situated on the front face of the cylinder block, and can be found in the following locations...... d) 1.8 & 1.9 litre diesel engines - stamped on a plate which is riveted to the centre of the block"

Wow, so it is that plate.
I always imagined it would have to be something more permanent, harder to forge. Thanks very much JohnD.
