Herbie syndrom

Post by citronut »

my friends 05 pug 307 quicksilver
passengers widow stated going up and down on its own, wouldnt close via the N/S door switch for some time now but would with the drtivers door switch,
now its opened on its own and will not shut with either of the switche's, typical its the rainy season,

yesterday he pulled the drivers door switch out, unplugged it plugged it back in, now both door windows are open and wont shut at all

could it be an electricary bug
any ideas,
Regards, malcolm.

Dirty/faulty switch contacts or the dreaded break in the loom?

I think the 307 is similar to the C5 in that the drivers door switch module has a computer within it. These are not unknown to go wrong and can do a number of things.

Mainly the windows go down when your pressing up. Our eldest C5 has developed this fault, its like doing morse code trying to get the window back up! It does down very well

Work the window with the Lexia and see if it operates normally, I would think it would. Then try another switch module.

Something I have been meaning to do for a while (a year, almost)
Rear nearside window goes down when it should go up and will only close if it has been opened fully.
None of them respond to one-touch open or close.
They all work as they should with the remote.

And they close when it rains, which frustrated my son, attempting to insert the card at the barrier on the exit to the hospital, each time he tried the window closed on him, had to get out and do it standing in the rain, not easy with a broken foot.

over the weekend the owner thought he'd pull the drivers side switch panel out, he apparently unplugged it and plugged it back in, then opend the drivers window now that will not go back up, but eventually the N/S did but wont open again,

so pluged the DIS-LEXIA/PLANET in yesterday and did a Global scan of the car,
came back with no faults found as regards to the front and back electric windows,

so tried to do an actuator test/check but in this mode it could only see and operate the rear windows, couldnt even see the fronts at all,

took the door trim.card off of the O/S door, removed the motor slid the window up re/fitted the motor and unplugged the O/S switch panel,
at least all the windows are up for the time being, although in hindsight i should have unplugged the control unit on the O/S door as well,

which way to go now??????

Hmm, that is a puzzle.

I'd suggest trying in another drivers side switch. I think with the C5 there is an ECU in there and this is needed to talk to the windows with a Lexia. 307s are largely the same in terms or electrics, it might be worth a try if you can get hold of one cheaply or know someone with a similar car.

had the drivers door switch panel apart today, it showed signs of water ingress, some of the switch contacts were a bit burned/corroded,

cleaned them up the best i could fitted it back and it all works, even the passengers window up and down with the passengers switch on the drivers door,
