Diesel pump on a 2003 / 206 1.4 hdi

Post by dstardongle »

Hi everyone ,

does anyone know if there is a stop solenoid fitted in or on
the high presure diesel pump on my
2003 / 206 1.4 hdi ..?

i cant get any fuel to the injectors ...
i'm not very familiar with these engines ....
i was told it could be air leak / loss of vacum
or the stop solenoid...
if there is a solenoid fitted ...is it a replaceable part ?

many thanks ,
chris

I don't think there is one as the engine is stopped via cutting the injector signals off aka no fuel.

I'm not sure that there are any replacement parts for the HP pump either, apart from say the driveshaft seal

The usual cause with the 1.4 is the fuel pipes along the top of the engine (take airbox out) taking air in. I think they can rub through but I seem to recall later pipework does not do this but your's is the early one.

Do you have any bubbles in the clear piece of fuel pipe near the primer bulb ?

Hi ,

thanks for your reply .

saved me some time looking for a solenoid that doese'nt exist ....

i did move the fuel pipes when replacing the filter ...so maybe that caused it to happen ....
yes, there's plenty of air in the pipe...i use the primer bulb to get fuel up ,but within a minute or so
it's run back to the tank ...
i'll check all the pies first ...if it still the same i'll get new ones ...
many thanks ,
chris.

i checked out the ' pies' .... they were very tasty..

now my bellys full, i'll take a look at the pipes .....lol.....

You're welcome.

If there's air in the clear pipe then that may well be a problem. YOu may see signs of fuel from those pipes under the airbox but as they are under depression (suction) you may not have any fuel leakage.

They are a common concern with this unit though. I think they are expensive from the dealer, I seem to recall about 70 or 90 but I could be wrong. Trouble is used ones may not be any better than what you have, not sure if a repair is possible something to look into I think.

I have the exact same problem, sorry to hijack thread but did you solve this ? I can get the motor to fire with easy start so the main parts seem to be fine just no fuel to injectors ? Cheers

Take the airbox out (below the filter) and look at the plastic fuel pipework running across for signs of leakage.

Alternative, look near the primer bulb for a clear section of plastic fuel pipe. Any bubbles present in this ? (squeeze the primer and look at the pipe)

Take the airbox off the top of the engine and then look at the piping that runs across the head (the plastic piping) operate the primer a few times, you may see some small seepage.

The primer itself can take air in in some cases too.

Trouble with these kind of problems is they can take air in but not leak anything out. By priming it you are hopefully giving it more chance to show you where the leak may be.

Examine (do not remove) the rubber leak off pipes between the injectors too. It will be obvious if they are we though.

I was thinking on putting air from the tank feed through the system to see if that would show a leak ??

And are there any one way valves in the system that could be buggered ? Clutching at straws now

Right how about I disconnect all the pipes to the pump and create my own simplified to and from the pump just to see if that works ??

The primer bulb is a one way valve.

My thought is still the pipes across the top of the engine though as they are prone to it.

I'll try to find a pic later although it may not really help (you'll see why)
