no coolant but no over heating ?

Post by rusty »

First things first i made a massive error by not checking anti freeze the other morning coolant was slush not frozen but like a slus puppy i left the car at home that day in the garage with heater on to try to warm things up when i got home coolant was back to normal

after this i've noticed that there is never any coolant in the header tank i fill it up but when i drive to work or back home (about 20 miles) i park up and the coolant has gone and looks like its escaped out of the header tank and over flow pipe car does not over heat the heaters work fine no mayo on header tank cap but orange coloured coolant (looks like rust from the system) and a few droplets of water on the oil filler cap but again no mayo what else could be causing this or is it the head gasket thats gone ?

If random letters are missing from words I'm sorry some keys on laptop you have to hit really hard forthem to type

You either have a leak or a failing head gasket which will cause the coolant to be blown out of the overflow/filler cap. Put the end of the overflow pipe into a receptical and see if it has coolant in it after a drive.
