Mechanical diesel injection pump

A month ago i send my car in a car service and the mechanic replace the advance fuel pump. But the car started to make more noise.where i have to register advance the retardo? ( I have peugeot 206 1.9 diesel year 1999, Mechanical diesel injection pump, LUCAS VARITY
type DPC )

I did not think the advance solenoid would have to be reset with a Lexia or suchlike.

It partly depends on the type of advance, you are about on the changeover year.

Earlier ones it was just to advance it a little bit when stone cold to help it run better, later ones were fully electronic advance.

Your engine code will tell the difference:

WJZ is the earlier unit. Mechanical advance but the advance unit (if fitted) is just for when its stone cold.

WJY is the later unit. Electronic advance / retard control completely.

the engine code is WJZ.

I'd agree. Pin the flywheel and check that the pump / cam are where they should be, no need to undo the belt tension at this stage, just check they are really where they should be.

The new advance unit may be stuck / the wrong one / incorrectly fitted*

*I think it just screws in so not sure if you can fit it wrong.
