Peugeot 306 hdi imobiliser button

Post by Wil »

Is it possible to do away with the imobiliser on my '99 306 hdi 2.00. It is the type where you have to touch a spot on the steering colum with a black key thingy. It is a dam pain to have to touch this dam button when starting the car especialy in the dark.

That's an aftermarket unit you have fitted. There is a factory one as part of the key as well.

I cannot provide instructions for the removal of the aftermarket one (I know the sort you mean, its like a 'battery' or a mini plug on a black plastic tab) as it will vary a lot. Basically there's that and a control box for it, all the wires will be the same colour in most cases without any ID on them to thwart thieves. It will cut one or two circuits, probably the ignition / ECU feed and or the starter feed as well.

You just need to do some digging to see where its wired to, to start with follow the wiring from the receiver on the column to its control box and work from there.

Thanks for that, I will trace the wires from the steering colum back.
