That`s good news you have your car back and all is well. Its so nice to see a long saga end so well.No point for an "inquest",they honored their responsibility, took it on the chin and you have a rebuilt engine, well done all.

Dammit another twist! I've noticed that oil is leaking badly from the head gasket at the back, gearbox end. Will be going back, again!!

EDIT: My bad, on looking again this morning in the light, it's a leak from the vacuum pump o-ring seal. There is a steady stream of oil, so I'd guess the o-ring is split.

That's a quite straightforward easy job to do although looking again I do not see a seal listed as the pump will "seal" the end of the cam housing in effect. Worth unbolting the pump for a closer look at least.

Yeah, I would like to go out and just do it myself so I can drive it again, but the jobs not right and they should fix it, 12 month warranty on the work and all that. Haynes shows an oring like this one...

Yes take it back then.

When I looked at the parts diagram for the vacuum pump it just showed the unit rather than any seal. Figuring that the cam oil would lubricate the vacuum pump so there would not be a cam seal on that end, although I'm not 100% on the DW8...

There are two O rings, one big one round the main housing that fits into the head and the little one for the oil feed.
