This place I went is Express Service which is part of Duff Morgan, the main dealer. They have all new high tech workshop.

Still ongoing, thought I'd let them do the rusty brake pipe for ease and speed. I thought they can't charge too much to do it, guessed around £80-100 and everything would be sorted. But no, left it with them (they wouldn't give a quote without looking at it), got a call lunch time saying they'd charge £150 ish. I declined work and found somewhere else for £80. Its now there overnight, so they'll do it in the morning. Then I'll have to go back to the other garage to get free retest. Sooo much hassle. Just hope by this time tomorrow MOT will be ok until next year!

Thanks - and it did get through. Only one advisory for a missing clip on the fuel line to the handprimer.
That's three MOTs done - only one more.
Also I asked the guy about the brake rollers and how the weight appears on the screen. He said that the roller measures the true weight of the axle.

thats strange as i asked the MOT tester at the station i use and have done for around 30 years,
he said the weight is the kurb weight of the vehicle not axle weight,
and most of the time it is on VOSA's data base so comes up on the vehicle's reg No. ,
if not on the data base they have a wall chart with makes and model kurb weight's,

if its not on either of those they have to try and find it on the vehicle weight/chassis plate,

The MOT guy did say that MOT station equipment did vary, but on his rollers the displayed weight on the overhead screen alters when the rear wheels change to the front ones.
