Help! locked out of my 806

Post by ken newbold »

Only bought this car about a week ago and a couple of days later, the only key snapped off in the lock. Luckily I was able to get the broken bit out and put it down the ignition barrel and drive home.
Today whilst cleaning out the inside of the car I noticed the passenger door was locked, so I pushed the button down on the drivers side and then pulled it up again, thinking this would open the passenger side, but it didn't  Tried a few more times but without success, I must have paused with the button down which brought the deadlocks on, now it won't open at all
The only good bit is that I have the drivers window open. Is there anything I can do?

This is an X reg 806 diesel, if that makes any difference. :(

If you have a key you can unlock the deadlocks with that in the drivers door lock. It should unlock them all I suspect a faulty deadlock mech (rare but very annoying)

The alternative is to remove the trim panel (it can be done) with the door closed and dismantle (ie: destroy) the lock / latch from the inside.

Regarding keys: A dealer can probably supply a new key ready cut as they come pre-cut if I remember correctly for these as its that 'odd' type of key fitted to the Despatch vans too. It would want coding though but it will lock / unlock, assuming the car has not had a new lockset fitted.

Thanks Andy

I don't have a key, not a whole one anyway. The door lock was dodgy before, that's why the key broke. I 'd ordered a pair of new door locks and waiting for delivery when all of this happened.
So I need to climb in though the window and remove the door card and somehow get the lock out?

why can't you take the broken bits to a key copying place and have a copy made?
it probably won't start the engine as it won't have the immo chip in the key but at least you can lock / unlock it

Getting the bit out of the ignition barrel might be a bit of an issue, plus the door lock was dodgy anyways. :(

Thinking again its impossible to deadlock the doors from inside. Locking yes, deadlocking no, that can only be done via the key (holding it in the lock position for a few seconds) or with the remote. Obviously for safety reasons.

I guess it could be faulty though. I'd take the trim panel off (can be done, at least there's a bit of space) and see what you can do.

Right, I'm back in :)

I managed to get the door panel off although still couldn't move the locking mechanism, once I'd got the door handle off and operated it manually, all the doors unlocked.
Removed the old dodgy lock and now just waiting for the new locks I've ordered, or the secondhand ones I've bought from someone.
Just got the problem of the fuel cap now.
I did get the codes numbers for the locks and transponder, but no one in our town could cut me a key unless they had the old one as a sample.

Thanks for your help chaps. :)

Good to hear its partly fixed.

The fuel flap if its locked you can get at the solenoid from within the rear trim panel if needed. If you have a locking cap you may have to (carefully!) drill it out without getting any debris into the tank, it can be done if you drill slowly but lets hope it does not come to that. :)

Finally today I have a complete lock set :-D went to a scrappies in Bradford and managed to pick up a complete set from a Synergie, so now all I have to do is fit them and then we're back on the road. :)

Just one further question. With the "new" ignition lock, I also got the transponder, so, if I were to fit this transponder for use with the new lock and key, would it then need to be calibrated to the ecu or something? If so I won't bother.

The chip in the old key must be used, the 'code' is in that and the other half of the 'code' is in the ECU. :)

The transponder 'ring' around the ignition lock is just an aerial to pick up the signal (on GM / Chrysler is does do more but as far as I know on PSA groups its just the aerial nothing more)

Basically match the key chip to the ECU.

This does not cover remote locking etc this is just the immobiliser.

OK thanks for this. that's about what I though. So I've taken the cheat method but at least now I have all locks on one key :) I've even got panel lights and a clock :-D

Next question is, what switches the interior courtesy light on? The bulb is OK and the map lights work, but not the middle one :( the rear one works when I open the taligate, so it's just the doors.

Thanks. Ken

I think on these (assuming its not just the door pin switch, I cannot remember) its part of the catch itself in the door latch (in the door, 206's are like this)

There's no sign of a pin switch on the pillar, but interestingly enough, the door open warning sign lights up but no courtesy light :?

Take the bulb out and check (with the door open) there's actually a feed and an earth present. :)

Not sure if its a negative or positive switched circuit (say if you need more detail)
