406 exhaust

Post by Peter.N. »

Hi folks

Can someone help, I am trying to find a centre exhaust section for my 01 406 Hdi 110 estate, there are a couple of firms advertising them from 98-2000 but say mine is different, is that so and what is the difference?

Thanks

There are probably repair sections now (as the early 206's had this too)

The 'difference' is the DW10TD Estate has the cat and the middle as one pipe (ie the exhaust system is just two parts with no centre box)

The DW10ATED has three parts (cat / middle / back)

I thought about this again, and I don't think that's the difference between the 90 and the 110, although that might be their confusion.

Pics might help better ?, both of these are from the estate: :)

Hi Andy

Thanks for the illustrations, mine has a join with a clamp behind the cat, then the box and a long pipe to the rear box with another clamp, that's where mine has gone. There is a repair pipe advertised but its only for the 90 bhp so I assume it has a smaller bore.

Bosal Cat here:

406 HDi exhausts

Change at RP 8576 - yours might be either! No repair pipe listed for the 110 - presumably becuase the cat is separate, rather than all in one as the 90 Version. The pipe is probably larger bore - it is on the 110 HDi Xantia, but the rear box is the same, and the pipe swages down. I wonder if the repair pipe for the 110 Xantia might fit - it's only £20 so may be worth a punt! (Xantia catalogue: Xantia HDi exhausts

Hi Richard

I have just been looking at it, the only difference with the seperate systems is that the the bit of rod that sticks out to go into the rubber mounting is facing the other way. I will have a look at mine tomorrow and see which one it is.

Yes, and it will still pass emissions. ;)

The FAP ones cannot be done though, not easily.

I don't think the cat is a problem as it has a connection between it and the centre box, its just a question of getting the correct pipe. I'm going to have a look at it shortly and see which pipe matches it.
