Late 405 blower fan stopped working. Fuse looks OK.
Is there a most likely single cause?
I see there is a "control module" - would you take a gamble on just replacing it, without further diagnosis?

Although its a 405, examine the wiring to the fan itself (should be reasonably easy to get at under the passenger side trim) examine it for burning around the large plug on the fan itself.
If you can get a replacement control module for free, by all means but otherwise unplug the fan and test it across a battery (caution: fingers + fans don't mix and they are quite powerful, secure it somewhere)

You're welcome.
It might only be Xantia's / 406's that can eat the large current multiplug.
I did have an issue with it on my 205 but cleaning the plug up 'fixed' it.
As you say, when the weather improves a bit (its bucketing it down here at the moment actually) you can take a closer look.
