206 dashboard lights for automatic transmission

Post by panmecheng »

Hi all I'm new to the forum. On a Peugeot 206 with automatic transmission the two lights on the dashboard start flashing with the engine running. Thsese are the light with a snow flake on it and the other has an S on it. I had a look on the owners manual and it says that when these two lights appear then there is a problem with the automatic transmission. Ok, but what is this problem? Does anyone know or anyone can help?

Welcome :)

Yes, you are right when that happens it indicates a problem of some kind.

Does it drive nicely ?

Unfortunately, the only way to find out 'why' is to have it connected to a Planet diagnostic (possibly the Citroen Lexia could be 'tricked' into working too)

It may be nothing though, perhaps just a bad signal at one stage caused it, but it is well worth having it checked as soon as possible to avoid any expense down the line.

Its possible a member from here may be able to help you. You may wish to quickly scan read through these two topics:

A friend of mine used to have a Xantia HDi Automatic and this same fault was caused by someone spilling coffee on the Sport/Snow Buttons.

It never caused him any problem, in fact, it was the nicest driving car ever!
