106 Rear Hub Nut Thread

Post by caspar »

I was replacing a rear wheel bearing on my 1998 106 1.1 and discovered the thread holding the hub on was quite badly damaged. Someone told me that the thread is splined in from the back and can be replaced with a new one. Is this the case? The Haynes doesn't mention this.
Thanks.

Peugeot don't list it as a separate part, however it may be that you can remove the arm and swap the stub axle portion - it'd take a good sized press to achieve though.

Given the vehicle age, possibly swapping the entire arm for a recycled unit is the easiest option.

Rear stub axle pins are available from Euro car parts or GSF car parts.Just hammer the pin out (with a very big hammer!) and same in reverse,15 min job! There are lots of different lengths so make sure you get the correct one.
