205 Central Locking Relay

Post by spider »

I can't belive I'm asking a 205 question, my area too.

Does anyone actually know where this is (or should be!) on the 205N (the post 91 shape) ?

It is factory locking, ie: no solenoid (yet!) on drivers door, just the others and the hatch.

I remember asking a few people years ago about this, including a 205 specialist, who said its above the glovebox (ie, not in the fusebox in the glovebox, but actually fitted elsewhere) , I suspect this might be the case from about 94 when they changed slightly again though.

Mine is not :) , I've had a really good look around. Its not anywhere that's remotely visible, unless its bolted to the centre of the bulkhead at the top of the dash.

Any thoughts appreciated. I've no real need for it (although I would like to wire my alarm into it) but its more a bugging thing.

My curiosity does not extend to dash removal to find it though ;) (even though that is not too difficult on these) , its definitely not behind the drivers side area (as I've had that to bits a few times for various jobs) and there's no sign around the glovebox area either, nor the footwell side areas.

As an off topic comment, I've recently discovered (its not mentioned anywhere as far as I am aware) the relay fitted just next to the scuttle on the nearside is the control feed for the dim-dip. :D

Andy,

I should know this, having owned a number of 205s....

I've been racking my brains to bits and I still can't remember. I Know I've seen it and had dealings with it as well.

I'll keep racking...

Thanks Jim.

I had a thought earlier actually, I wonder if its fitted around the heater box, that would be (semi) logical too.

Mines a bit awkward simply as far as I know its one of the first (UK spec) D-Turbo's of that shape, the year or so later things seemed to settle down. (Examples being it does not have vented front discs, although obviously it has the GTi suspension setup at the front)
