Multi functional digital display

Post by hairybob »

Hello I have a 97 406 LX 1.8 16v, which apparently did not come with a Multi functional digital display as standard. The wiring loom is there, and I have managed to get a display with the same 15pin connector. The handbook seems to indicate that the display is controlled by the end of the wash/wipe stalk but the bit you push in seems seized up. Is it possible to get this unit working. I have plugged it in, and it lights up with 4 ---- dash symbols on the display so there is power there.
Any thoughts
Thanks bob

They have a slightly different wash/wipe stalk from memory.

The 'fake' button on the end of it is normal (if you look at another one, perhaps an earlier one or even a 306 etc) you`ll see they have a 'fake' button so it looks like the horn button.

I'm not quite sure which display you are referring to. The GLX and above used to have the radio display on here. The LX just had a clock and later models had the outside temperature displayed here too.

I can't recall seeing a trip computer fitted to the S1 off hand. :)
