Peugeot Expert Van Wont Start- Where is stop solenoid?

Post by stuartl »

Good evening all!

This is my first post, I have been told by Peter N that you are a very clever lot on here!!!

My 1999 Expert 1.9D (non Turbo) van suddenly refused to start on Monday. It has always been slow turning over but has always started, even in the heavy snow recently. I parked it up on Saturday but Monday morning it turned over fine but refused to start. It has 1/4 tank of Diesel. After some research and advice from Peter, I decided the stop solenoid was a likely reason it wasn't starting. I bought one from GSF but couldnt find it in the engine bay to remove the plunger off the old one to test or replace it with the new one. I have taken photos of the fuel pump here:

Is the stop solenoid under the casting that I have circled in the first pic?

I should add that when I crank the engine there is no white smoke coming from the exhaust which I believe would be apparent if there was fuel getting through?!?

Any help will be very very gratefully received!

Thanks,

Stuart
