206 not starting

Hi frirnds 206 wont start the rev counter was going up down when sitting at tick over now (after all the bad weather she didnt wont to drive it) so it wont start now ,turns over ok any help guys its a w reg petrol

W reg so not multiplexed. :)

First step, check all fuses (inc those under the bonnet, passenger side if its got any there under the black cover infront of battery)

Get an assistant. Kneel down near the drivers side rear wheel. Get your assistant to turn ignition on (second position) but not start. Listen carefully, you should hear a buzzing sound for about 2 or 3 seconds, this indicates the fuel pump is working.

After that I'm not sure the best way to proceed to check for spark etc as you probably have coil pack. Its worth ensuring all multiplugs in engine bay are OK too.

Hopefully someone else will be able to add a little bit more.

1.1 and 1.4 petrol 206s are well known for having failed coilpacks, so it may well be a coilpack which is failing/failed. Though it could just need plugs. It take the plugs out and see if they ok, colour, wear, dry/wet etc.

i have seen the ECU relay gone south on these, its the brown double sized relay under the engine managment ECU attatched to the O/S inner wing
